Such a simple phrase. Such profound meaning. When I see simple phrases in the Bible I tend to pass over them like a rock skimmed across the water, seeking something substantial to land on for a while. However, I’ve found significant depth in the little words of the Bible. This word that starts everything off gives me the greatest hope. It’s the two-letter word ‘in’. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/in ) defines the word in this way: Simple Definition of in
Does that get you excited? I hope it does, because it means that when God was creating this finite box we call the World, He positioned Himself in it and included His presence as a part of this universe. He didn’t just remain comfortably distant, content to stay outside the box. Yeah, I know that was before the Fall of mankind from Grace into sin, but that event couldn’t alter God’s desire to be engaged with His Creation. He is in it for the long haul. He has never moved. Though we made ourselves His enemies, God has always been the one to offer the fellowship and intimacy that would forge an eternal bond. We are the ones who separated ourselves from God and cower in fear on our own. In His great mercy the God who is In graciously calls to we who are Out, drawing us back to the place of holy alliance with Him. 2 John 1:3 “Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.” How will we respond to the Creator’s call?
